“Buy local!” It’s become an oft-heard motto in many communities, and for good reason. Money spent at local businesses stays in the community, generating local employment and prosperity; it supports the small and medium businesses that comprise the heart of our economy; and it tends to recirculate locally, multiplying the benefits.

In this half day workshop, participants will learn how to plan and implement a Buy Local program that works for their community.

The program will cover:

  • The benefits, economic and other, of buying local
  • Why people buy – or don't buy – local
  • Using principles of social marketing (not social media)
  • Examples of best practices, creative approaches and success stories
