Janice Goguen, associate partner with NuFocus Strategic Group, brings an impressive global background in business development to her consulting roles.
She has more than 25 years of experience in federal economic development as an officer, manager and executive. She has 10 years of experience in private and public sector communications and media relations in Atlantic Canada. Since joining NuFocus in 2013, Janice has developed a solid practice of providing advice and coaching to organizations and companies seeking to acquire the skills and know-how to engage in export development.
In her former role as Manager, International Business Development with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Janice managed and led national and international project teams and project implementation. She has more than 12 years of experience in international business development in such sectors as culture, food and seafood, information technologies and education. Her market focus included the United States, Europe and India. Among her noted accomplishments are the development of strategies aimed at helping Atlantic Canadian businesses grow through market expansion, including the Women Export Initiative, new market development initiatives and sector development research studies. She has led numerous market development workshops and trade initiatives and has been a speaker on the topic of growth strategies for Atlantic SMEs. She has twice been recognized with export achievement awards for her work on developing export strategies for the Atlantic Cultural sector and for the development of Atlantic Canada’s first India market strategy.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Communications from the University of Ottawa, Janice also gained experience through short and long-term work assignments in Ottawa, Boston and India, and through training in financial management, leadership, strategic planning, policy and international market development.
